Imagine typing words, and out comes music tailored to your text. It’s like having a magic wand for crafting music. Adobe’s new experimental tool promises to revolutionise how people make and tweak their own tunes, giving them the power to shape sound with just their words. Let’s delve into how this exciting technology will reshape the landscape of music production.

An early-stage generative AI music generation and editing tool, Project Music GenAI Control aims to change how people create and edit custom audio and music, Adobe said in a blogpost.

The Project Music GenAI Control will allow creators to generate music from text prompts, and then have fine-grained control to edit that audio for their precise needs.

The new tool works by inputting a text prompt into a generative AI model, similar to how Firefly operates. Users just have to enter prompts like “powerful rock,” “happy dance,” or “sad jazz” to generate music. Once the music is generated, fine grained editing is integrated directly into the workflow.

At the back of the smartphone, you’ll see three raised circular modules arranged in the upper-left corner, accompanied by an LED flash unit.

Users could also control the intensity of the audio, deciding when to increase or decrease it. Additionally, they could have the option to extend the length of a clip, remix a section, or generate a seamlessly repeatable loop.

Instead of manually cutting existing music to make intros, outro, and background audio, Project Music GenAI Control could help users create exactly the pieces they need– addressing workflow challenges from start to finish.

“One of the exciting things about these new tools is that they aren’t just about generating audio—they’re taking it to the level of Photoshop by giving creatives the same kind of deep control to shape, tweak, and edit their audio. It’s a kind of pixel-level control for music,” Bryan explained.
